چکیده

In this paper, a global optimization technique is applied to solve the optimal transmitter placement problem for indoor wireless systems. An efficient pattern search algorithm—DIRECT (DIviding RECTangles) of Jones, Perttunen, and Stuckman (1993)—has been connected to a parallel 3D radio propagation ray tracing modeler running on a 200-node Beowulf cluster of Linux workstations. Surrogate functions for a parallel WCDMA (wideband code division multiple access) simulator were used to estimate the system performance for the global optimization algorithm. Power coverage and BER (bit error rate) are considered as two different criteria for optimizing locations of a specified number of transmitters across the feasible region of the design space. This paper briefly describes the underlying radio propagation and WCDMA simulations and focuses on the design issues of the

Design of a novel congestion-aware communication mechanism for wireless NoC architecture in multicore systems

Hybrid Wireless Network-on-Chip (WNoC) architecture is emerged as a scalable communication structure to mitigate the deficits of traditional NOC architecture for the future Multi-core systems. The hybrid WNoC architecture provides energy efficient, high data rate and flexible communications for NoC architectures. In these architectures, each wireless router is shared by a set of processing core...

Design of a Low-Latency Router Based on Virtual Output Queuing and Bypass Channels for Wireless Network-on-Chip

Wireless network-on-chip (WiNoC) is considered as a novel approach for designing future multi-core systems. In WiNoCs, wireless routers (WRs) utilize high-bandwidth wireless links to reduce the transmission delay between the long distance nodes. When the network traffic loads increase, a large number of packets will be sent into the wired and wireless links and can...

Wireless sensor network design through genetic algorithm

In this paper, we study WSN design, as a multi-objective optimization problem using GA technique. We study the effects of GA parameters including population size, selection and crossover method and mutation probability on the design. Choosing suitable parameters is a trade-off between different network criteria and characteristics. Type of deployment, effect of network size, radio communication...

A Middleware-Based Approach for Heterogeneous Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are networked embedded systems that use small size devices with some processing and short-range radio communication capabilities for monitoring and controlling systems and environments. However, languages and IDE (Integrated Development Environments) used to develop applications for WSN are often strictly related to the involved HW/SW platform leading to complex a...

Designing wireless protocols: methodology and applications

Communication protocols are essential components of wireless systems. Present methods for protocol design are heuristic in nature and are not suited for next generation wireless systems where time-to-market concerns require correct-the-first-time implementations. In this paper we present a new design methodology for wireless protocols based on the principle of orthogonalization of concerns. In ...
